Having started his career over thirty years ago as a patrol officer, he has built a national reputation as a crime prevention expert, bringing to the table a unique blend of academic and practical experience.

  • Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies, with a field of concentration in criminal justice, including focus on Defensible Space
  • Master of Science in Security Management
  • Presently enrolled at Harvard University for post-graduate study in statistics and quantitative methods (used in his ongoing research related to crime causation and environmental crime prevention).

  • CPP from ASIS International
  • ICPS from International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners

Public Service:

  • Appointed by the Governor to serve on the Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies
    • elected by his colleagues as Chair of that Board from 2004 to 2007 and again in 2010

A former POST-certified instructor for advanced and specialized training of police officers, provided instruction in the following subjects:

Gary Mugridge

Gary Mugridge has extensive experience in major crime investigations, including death penalty and other criminal defense cases. With over twenty years in federal law enforcement, Gary has advanced training and expertise in: internal investigations; security of firearms and explosives; private and corporate security; diplomatic protection; interviews and interrogations; courtroom testimony at local, state and federal levels; evidence collection, preservation and presentation. Gary has provided expert testimony in cases related to crime scenes, investigations, and police procedures.

Joshua Villines

Having first stared working with his father at the age of fifteen, Joshua went on to work in every aspect of the company as a security supervisor, a lead investigator, an instructor, and a statistical analyst. He currently heads a consulting agency that focuses on training law enforcement and private investigators in interviews and interrogation, investigative techniques, crime prevention, threat assessment, and data analysis. John and Joshua work very closely together on expert testimony cases regarding premises liability, investigative procedures, and foreseeability of crime.
